Bilingual & Spanish Speaking Wedding Officiant

Bilingual Elopement in Central Park

Antonio Rodriguez, NY & NJ Licensed Officiant

Antonio is a Spanish-speaking, native New Yorker, and a recent New Jersey transplant after 40+ years of living in NYC.  We are proud to welcome him to the Common Ground Ceremonies family as one of our most beloved, and sought-after bilingual, Spanish-speaking wedding officiants in New York and New Jersey. Antonio and Rev. Dr. Samora first met when he asked if he could assist her in officiating his friend's wedding. Ever since then, Antonio and Dr. Samora have become great friends, sharing the same philosophies, and now a mutual passion for officiating. In 2021, Antonio asked Dr. Samora to help him surprise his wife and perform their 5th-year Wedding Anniversary Vow Renewal ceremony in Washington Square Park. Over the past few years, Rev. Samora has hired Antonio for many of her bilingual weddings and elopements, and now she is looking forward to having him as an official part of her team.  Antonio performs and travels to all 5 boroughs, New Jersey, Westchester, and the Tri-State area.

How He Started

Antonio's journey as a wedding officiant began in 2015 when his best friend asked him to officiate her wedding ceremony. Being the incredibly loving, and romantic person he is, Antonio was overjoyed (and nervous, of course) to be chosen for such a special moment. The excitement of his first ceremony, and being there to step up for his friend's wedding was completely exhilarating. What began as what he thought was a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity, quickly became a true calling and passion for him.

His Philosophy

Antonio is a self-described hopeless romantic who has always believed in the power of love. His philosophy has always been “Love is Love”, regardless of who you choose to love.  He also believes it’s equally important to balance being your partner's best friend and lover. That ideal has carried over into his own marriage. He and his wife have known each other since their mothers became friends when they were only 9-years-old. They are now a happily married couple, and Antonio's wife is his best friend and greatest cheerleader.

Why He Loves Officiating

Being a natural people person has helped Antonio become a better officiant over the years. What he loves most about being an officiant is meeting new couples and getting to hear their personal love stories. It brings him an immense feeling of joy to be able to play such an integral role in their union, and their own unique fairytale.

"Our wedding was a miracle.
Starting by the fact that we have been in the midst of a global pandemic. Every government office that could help us through the process of getting married was close and we had no hope on making our day a reality. We found Antonio on wedding wire and it was the best thing that ever happened to us. He helped us secure the perfect location for our wedding, guided us through the ceremony and held our hands every step of the way. Thanks to him everything was special and personal, very romantic too. I even recommended him to a cousin who’s officiant cancelled the day before her wedding and of course he was a dream.
Don’t hesitate to hire Antonio; he is an amazing human being, responsable and very organized. Both his Spanish and English are also impeccable. I couldn’t have asked for a better officiant."

"Antonio, our marriage official, who also speaks perfect spanish in case needed, performed our wedding ceremony in an incredible fashion. He was punctual, professional, and above all full of joy. He kept in touch with us for ever question we had, helped us through the process of getting our marriage license, and ultimately delivered an incredible speech. Incredible service, full of love and spirituality. Very respectful and understands every request made. Totally recommended."

Antonio was the wedding officiant for our August 2020 wedding. From the moment we spoke to him over the phone we knew he was perfect for our wedding! The ceremony script he provided for us was amazing and he also read it in spanish for my family which everyone loved! I cannot recommend Antonio enough!
